Payton woke up early that morning, earlier than all of the other initiates. Slipping out of her dormitory bed, she crossed to the showers and turned on the scalding hot water. For a few moments, she just stood there, letting the water wash over her body and soak her hair. Being an initiate was everything that she had dreamed it would be: dangerous fighting, late nights, early mornings...there was something so gratifying about the way her family watched her across the cafeteria when she strolled in in the mornings. Pay turned the shower a bit hotter, allowing the scalding hot water to nearly burn her skin. And then there was Andrew - Payton’s younger brother. He had such a place in her heart, she would do anything to protect him.
She could hear the other initiates beginning to stir, undoubtedly preparing for their early wake up time. Slamming her hand against the shower handle, Pay turned it off and immediately began drying herself. She slipped on the black pants and tank top that she had brought into the bathroom area of the dormitories. Her hair was still wet, but she didn’t mind - she just wanted some practice time alone. It was so hard for her to focus with so many people around all the time...no wonder her scores were lower than she had anticipated. Satisfied that she was ready to go, she threw her towel back onto her small bed, “Rise and shine, slackers,” Pay mumbled as she climbed the stairs, skipping one every time she jumped.
Dauntless was only beginning to show morning signs of life - some of the older members watched her as she grabbed a snack from the cafeteria and then exited, heading toward the training room. Luckily, as she had expected, no one else was there yet. Grabbing two of the knives from the table, the brunette flipped them around in her hands. They had just been sharpened, she could tell by the way the blades glistened in the dim light over head. Flipping them again, Payton began walking toward the targets that were on the other side of the room.
She wasn’t the most accurate thrower yet - her knives were always a little to the left, but she supposed that was the reason that she was here. Grabbing the handle of the one in her left hand, she moved her arm backwards and let the knife fly through the air. As expected, it hit the target - the left shoulder if someone had actually been standing there. A few more throws and she was beginning to shift her aim back center. It wasn’t until she heard something behind her that she tensed and turned slowly, poised to throw the knife at whoever it was who had interrupted her training.

Post by Colton A. Diggs on Mar 29, 2014 19:55:15 GMT -5
Diggs awoke with a start, he couldn't help it at this point. In the two days since he had arrived, he was waking from a nightmare each day. Unlike some of his fellow transfers, Diggs never shed a tear or sobbed into his pillow. He laid in bed for just a few seconds before falling asleep and spending the rest of the night with her. Both nights he had spent the night with her, talking to her and discussing what he was going to do next. It felt so real and to him maybe it was, but each morning it ended the same. Watching her fall as he did nothing to save her, there was nothing he could have done. He had been telling himself that every second of every day. Never in his wildest dreams would he imagine they would have to jump from the train and then follow that up with the equivalent of the world's longest trust fall. Some things had been explained to him but not much, they were just getting started on initiation. Diggs to this point had only spoken one word since Abby's death, when asked what his name was. He responded softly. "Diggs" Not Colton which was his given name because Abby would be the last to say that name, a name she screamed as she fell to her death. He rolled his thumb and forefinger over the necklace on his chest. It was a silver chain with a large silver A hanging from it. It belong to his beloved, she had given it to him because it "didn't match her dress". He had yet to give it back to her and now it was all that he had left of her.
He looked around the room and saw that it was empty, the rest of the trainees must have gone of to lunch and he smirked. Everyone followed like lamb to the slaughter, Diggs had already decided that he would be the best. This competition of sorts will be tough and he had no idea what he was in for, but he was going to do whatever it took to be the best, for her. But he wasn't sure he was good enough, strong enough or smart enough, it was Abby who kept him in check and pushed him to be the best he could at everything. Now she was gone and Diggs was lost.
He hopped up and dressed in the typical black beater and pants, heading towards the training room. He wanted to get in there while everyone else had their breakfast. He entered quietly and was depressed to see someone already there. He couldn't remember her name but she was a Dauntless from birth. No transfer here and she had to be the most stuck up bitch he had ever encountered. He watched as she continued to throw, he picked up a spare knife off the table and slowly approached her. He footsteps seemed to give him away and he held no expression as she turned on him. He move quickly to his left in case she threw and when he had stepped out he saw a clear angle to the target board. He was pretty far away but he let the knife go, watching it flip end over end until it smashed into the center of the target, in a spot that would pierce any breathing human's heart. He walked past her and grabbed his knife from the chest. He spun and faced her again. "Shouldnt you be eating with the rest of the drones"

Just as she had suspected, someone was most certainly in the room. Transfer. Shy...or stupid. He never spoke. Payton was pretty sure that she hadn’t heard him say a single word since they had been here. Mute. That was what she had labeled him in her head - it was a nickname that would probably stick as long as he stuck around in Dauntless. Which, judging by the fact that he was a Transfer, wouldn’t be too long. Probably stupid, she reasoned his silence. Eyeing the boy, Payton felt her knife leave her hand before she even had time to fully process the situation. Per usual, it went a little left and he managed to step out of its way with ease. Embarrassment immediately flooded her veins. She wanted to scream at him and tell him to get out. The whole point of her getting up before everyone else was so that she could practice. Someone needed to teach this Transfer a lesson about respecting those who were in a higher up position.
Pay hated Transfers. And she hated this one even more.
She watched as Mute took advantage of the clear shot that she had given him and heard the impact of the knife hitting the target. Payton was almost too angry to turn and look, but just the same, she moved her head so that she could see it. A perfect shot. If it had been her standing there, it would have pierced her skin, struck her heart, and she would have been bleeding out in a matter of seconds. Dammit. She could feel her internal competitiveness already taking hold in her brain. Whoever this boy thought he was, he was going down. Payton wasn’t about to be bested by the likes of some transfer from god knows where. Glaring at the board and then turning her face back to look at the boy she realized that he was talking to her...no, insulting her, “Shouldn’t you be out with the Factionless where you belong, Mute?”
Her fingertips found the edge of the table as she picked up another knife and weighed it in her hands. It seemed lighter than the others that she had been throwing with. Eyeing him carefully, she poised herself and raised both of her eyebrows. He had been with a girl in the beginning, she remembered that. But the girl hadn’t made it. A smirk formed on her lips as she thought about it - poor little boy was probably lost without his girlfriend...or sister. Whatever relation, she wanted to laugh in his face, “You really shouldn’t skip breakfast, Mute-” Her eyes traveled over him, trying to size up where his weaknesses lay, “You’re going to need all the energy you can get.” Finally her eyes settled on the necklace and she knew where she had to strike, "Should we take bets as to how long you'll last here? Judging by her subpar performance, I'd say no more than a week."

Diggs watched as the girl’s face tinted red while he stepped around her knife. He would never tell her but she had a strong arm, if she held her elbow better she would hit the target every time. Knives were something they worked on the first day with the instructors. Obviously they had both had the same idea, to practice alone. Take advantage of the time that others spent eating and resting, he would continue to push his body and clearly she was in the same boat. But her arrogance and the way she looked down her nose, figuratively of course, really pissed him off. He had been warned on the train by one of the instructors that the Dauntless born initiates rarely interacted with the transfers, holding themselves to a higher standard.
He stood tall with eyes low as he spoke. Her retort was quick and it brought a smirk to his face. Mute. She assumed that he couldn’t speak, not that he was just quiet or shy but that he physically couldn’t. Well she would learn that there was very few things, that he couldn’t physically do. “It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.” It was a quote he had read somewhere, a passage long since lost on most factions other than Erudite but it seemed to fit and he knew it would only further piss her off.
He knew this would come, though he didn’t react on the roof surely people had seen them together. This girl in front of him belonged here, unlike Abby who was sweet and kind, she was not cut out for dauntless. She should never have been on that train, making that jump. He knew he couldn’t give this girl a weakness; he couldn’t give anyone a weakness. He was going to make it through this with the highest rank possible. For her. In her memory. She would want him to do great things, but to do that he would have to deny all feelings of depression and anger when it comes to her. Flipping his own knife in his hands and cradling the handle, he thought about firing it at her but he held tight and just grinned. “She should never have been here. I on the other hand, was born for it” he pointed to the rankings which were still extremely early but he was in the top spot for the transfers. He let his eyes wander to the dauntless born, Payton was her name and it was relatively low. “Maybe the bet should be how long you survive sweetheart” As he spoke he threw the knife in the air, letting it spin handle over blade, before catching it. All without taking his eyes off of her. Let the games begin little girl.

(If its okay) Jinx had woken up before anybody. She didn't like it but it was pushed into her before. Jinx got Dressed Before leaving. She got something to eat real quick and then left to go to the training room to see if any of her initiates were awake. She got in there and saw that Payton was there. A Dauntless born initiate. Jinx wouldn't mind her if she didn't think that she was above everybody else. Jinx stood by a column and watched her as she threw her knives. Each one missing. Jinx sighed and was going to go help her when another initiate came in. Jinx rolled her eyes as she watched them. Jinx could hear them and when they started to make a bet on how long each would survive Jinx had to do something. but she didn't she just stood there. If they fought it showed that the two were childish and didn't want to be here. Or at least that is what Jinx thought about the fighting. Jinx crossed her arms and put one of her feet on the column behind her and watched the two. Making sure they didn't hurt anybody including themselves. Jinx looked around and sighed. There was nobody else coming in meaning they were all eating. Jinx should go over but she remained in the shadows not saying anything.

Payton felt her face grow even more menacing when she realized that the boy was smirking at her. What could he possibly be laughing at? Nothing she had said was funny - she was insulting him by calling him Mute. Biting the inside of her lip and tilting her chin slightly to the right, the young brunette attempted to look as dangerous as possible. His response was typical of an Erudite Transfer - full of wisdom but lacking any personality. It was like it had been read out of some book and then thrown onto his lips; maybe he didn’t even fully understand what he was saying. Stupid, she thought again; that must have been the reason that he left Erudite. If he truly thought that Payton was an idiot, then he had a lot to learn. Sure, she was rash and brutish, but there was an intelligence underneath the skin that rarely saw the light of day, “Where’d you pick that up from, Mute?” She took a step forward, letting him know that she wasn’t afraid of him and his idle threats, “You should probably learn this now - Knowledge and spouting off silly quotes won’t get you very far here. We’re about bravery, not hiding behind words.” She wanted to spit at him, but she held her tongue. Altercation would come, but she had to assess her situation properly.
Her eyes immediately flitted to his when he said that the girl should have never been here - he was right about that. However, he wasn’t right about him belonging. Payton knew that if you were raised in a certain Faction, you should probably stay there, “How can you be born for something you don’t even understand?” She growled, getting angry that he thought he knew everything about the Dauntless. This was her home, it had been her home for sixteen years and this newcomer thought that he could just slide into the Faction and claim a spot at the top of the hierarchy.
Watching as he looked up at the board, she felt her insides begin to crawl with embarrassment. Seventh. That was where she was placed now. Sure - it wasn’t horrible, but she could see Mute’s name above hers on the rankings. Day 3 would be different - she would destroy him. She would destroy all of them. Payton’s eyes settled on his own knife in his hands, watching as they both flipped almost in tandem. Each was preparing to strike in their own due time, “Don’t call me sweetheart, Transfer. I’m nowhere near sweet.” Her heart was already beating quickly in her chest and she wondered how long it would take her to go for his knees and send him to the ground - then of course, she would be at a disadvantage because she couldn’t defend from the knife while he was lower than her. She would have to strike first, defend second - that was the only way taking him down would work. Her muscles tensed, but she didn’t move to prepare to strike quite yet - her mind was still working out all the details.
Side-step, stomp on his left foot, elbow to his face, swing backwards, grab his knife. Then Payton would be in control. The knife was an important piece of the puzzle because without it, she was at a disadvantage, “A week.” She challenged, “A week. If you’re still higher in the rankings, Mute, then I’ll leave. If I’m higher, then you leave.” Payton held out her free hand, offering what appeared to be the start of a handshake.

Diggs had to contain himself from laughing, the girl was a Dauntless born and she was tough but her looks deceived her. Her attempt at insulting him was hilarious to him, he was quiet for sure. But the fact that he could talk defeated the insult, but he also knew she was just trying to get under his skin so he let it pass. He watched her take a step towards him as she spoke and his grin stayed planted on his face. She wasn’t going to intimidate him and his smiling seemed to be egging her own. He’d remember that for the future. He ignored her first question but answered her following statement with obvious sarcasm. “I’ll be sure to remember that” his knife still flipping end over end, before he flicked it back into the air again. Never once looking at it. What really had pissed Colton’s parents off was that he was brilliant, almost to a genius level. So it took him all of three seconds to determine the correct angle to toss the knife and how much time it would take so he’d catch the handle.
She stared him in the eyes, she was definitely a cold hard bitch who knew how to fight. Whether verbally or physically, it was clear she was good. “The same way you make opinions about people that you don’t know.” He was still calm and in the end she was right about Abby, but not him. He didn’t like anyone talking about her but it could have been worse and he didn’t need to lose his cool here and now.
He watched her eyes found the leaderboard. She obviously expected more of herself and was disappointed. He, in what little he knew of her, was honestly surprised she was so low. But he didn’t know what most of the dauntless born looked like, maybe they were faster and stronger than he had expected. Not that it mattered, he would crush anyone and everyone. In due time of course. His grin grew again as she didn’t take being called sweetheart very well, another ping as he remembered more about her. “Nor do you seem to possess a heart” He held his stance, continuing to flip the knife and felt the fight coming.
He knew he wouldn’t need the knife, nor did he really want to use it. Last thing he needed was to kill a girl on the third day with no one watching. This fight was going to be pointless but a matter of gaining respect in the Dauntless born side of things. He pictured her attack, not his own. He knew she was expecting him to hold his knife throughout, using at as his main weapon. He took a step closer to her and caught his knife, then he quickly pulled it to his chest before firing it into a wood panel to his right. Again without looking he knew he had hit his mark. He loved physics as a kid and that made angles very easy to him. Then with the same hand he shook hers hard and pulled himself close, pushing her other hand with the knife against her own stomach. “Who said I want you gone…sweetheart?” he spun and kicked her hard, aiming for the hand that was gripping the knife. Hoping to knock it loose and even this fight.

The leader-board was like a slap in the face to Payton. She knew she was better than that - she had grown up in Dauntless, been born and bred for the life of fighting and dangerous combat. Why now was she failing with the silliest of mistakes. When he turned back to face her, Payton tried to seem as if she was not bothered, as if there was nothing out of the ordinary about her scores. Maybe she was hustling the rest of the Dauntless-borns. Maybe she was making herself seem like less of a threat so she could come from behind and reclaim the number one spot. It was all about strategy - about the way that she played to her strengths, right? She hated Mute’s grin. It was like he was teasing her without saying a word. Honestly, she wanted to skin his lips right off of his face - perhaps that would make her feel better. Heart-less? To some it might have seemed that way, but Payton knew that her heart lay in becoming a full Dauntless and protecting her brother, Andrew. So much for the Erudite not judging a book by it’s cover, “A heart gets in the way.” She muttered and raised both of her eyebrows - surely he knew that the best after what happened to that pathetic girl.
The knife - dammit, she hadn’t been expecting him to throw it. She heard it hit the board and immediately felt his hand in hers. A jolt of adrenaline shot through her veins as they shook hands for the first time. It was a hard grip and then out of the blue, she was being pulled in his direction. His hand was on hers, pushing the knife into her stomach. She knew that he wasn’t going to pierce her skin - his hold was firm but not too hard. He was trying to prove that he could and would hurt her if given the chance. Their eyes locked - a certain impasse for a moment. Payton stared him down, the hunger for a fight obvious in her eyes. He was a both a challenge and a challenger, something she was not willing to let go, “Guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree, eh Mute?” With a push back, they were free of their grid-lock. His foot collided with her hand and her fingertips lost the grip on the knife. Payton heard the metal clattering against the concrete floor, but didn’t look down. Eyes on the target, She reminded herself, moving to the balls of her feet so that she could be more agile. He was bigger than her, but she was faster - that would have to be her advantage, especially since she had just lost the knife to the floor.
She readied her hands, taking a few side steps to her right as she watched his every move. She had to keep her distance so he couldn’t reach her - but also couldn’t get too far away or she would lose the speed advantage. Payton was focused on the way his shoulders seemed to rise and fall with every breath he took. He was now a danger because they were on equal playing fields...with the knife, she could have easily bested him - now she would have to deal with the consequences of losing that advantage. She would just adapt the plan that she had formulated earlier - only subtract the knife. It was like an equation - now all she had to do was execute and equate. Moving forward in one swift advance, the brunette slammed her foot on top of his causing him to fall a few inches. At which point, she took her right elbow and raised it above his trapezoid and pushed it down into his shoulder with as much force as she could manage. With that, she moved outward again, hands back in the idle ready position as she glared at him. No one was watching so they could play as dirty as they wanted...because this fight wasn’t about rankings - this fight was about pride.

Their eyes stayed locked even as his foot connected with her hand, he kept his eyes on the prize. In this case, his victim. He knew the girl would come hard and fast, she was small but there was a lot of strength there. The positive of being the new guy is that Diggs took no one lightly, he saw each person for the strengths that they possessed. No previous faction, size or intelligence mattered, each person had a weakness and this girls seemed to be she over thought everything. The positive for her is that they were trained by the same people so the moves and guess work should be simple. But being born in Erudite had its advantages too. He took deep breaths and prepared himself for the fight that was most definitely coming.
He could see that he had thrown her off by throwing the knife and he had seen her eyes widen as he pulled her closer. If he was going to win this, he had to be spontaneous and catch her off guard. He chuckled just loud enough for her to here as she spoke. He thought he saw someone out of the corner of his eyes and he regretted taking a brief look instantly when he saw that she was on top of him. Before he could respond she stomped on his foot, he dropped quickly and she slammed her elbow into his shoulder. He stood slowly, cracking his neck and he did. He dropped his eyes and stared at her, he was ready to fight as hard and as dirty as she was. But he knew he had to do things his way.
He saw the knife on the floor; it was still close enough for Payton to reach if she got desperate. He lowered his hands and took three strides before kicking the knife as hard as he could. He turned going back into his stance, he looked at her and beckoned her forward. He knew she would be expecting him to throw punches so he did the opposite, kicking her with his right foot in her shin and then again with his left foot, before upper cutting her into the chin. He wanted to keep going but the feeling that he was being watched hit again, so he took a step back and looked behind him. He saw no one but he turned back to face his competition. “Ready for another sweetheart?” He took a step and prepared for another round of guesswork. She was unlike anyone he had fought until this point, she was smart…calculating. She spent more time strategizing than attacking.

Korrine had finished eating before everyone else, courtesy of an uneasy stomach which had knotted itself into a messy balls of nerves. She'd gotten two, maybe three mouthfuls down before being unable to eat another bite. The blonde had sat for a while with the other faction transfers, though she preferred to keep herself separate from the group. As such, it wasn't too hard to slip away from the table and into the hallway outside. Once there, she pressed her back against the wall, staring up blindly at the ceiling. What had she been thinking, choosing Dauntless of all places. She hadn't cried herself asleep like most of the other transfers, no, Kore had far too much pride to allow herself to snivel into her pillow. Still, the darkness of the bunk rooms had given her plenty of quiet time to doubt her decision. Lucky for her, Kore had unwittingly made a name for herself when she'd been the first to jump, but it wasn't like it would do her any good. Most of the other transfers sneered at her, considering her a suck-up, and the Dauntless-born hadn't liked a Stiff showing them up.
Kore ran a hand through her blonde locks, looking first left then right before moving down the hall. She'd chosen right, having ever intention to go to the training room to practice before the other initiates and instructors got there. Being Abnegation-born, Kore had a sort of ingrained sense of selflessness, and she didn't want to slow the class down by needing extra help again. As she walked, she thought back to the first day of initiation. The day after she jumped, Kore had gotten up early with the others, moving like zombies in the wee hours of the morning. They'd arrived at the training room where knives were promptly placed in their hands. When she'd gripped the cold steel, her blue eyes had widened slightly and she'd received and almost pitying glance from one of the instructors, who she believed to be called 'Hawk'. Kore had thrown the knives numerous times at her target, each attempt worse than the last. In the end, the others had been forced to stay behind with her for nearly twenty minutes until she managed to stick three knives into a target consecutively. Since then, Kore had been getting up as early as possible to practice alone in the training room. Today would have been no different had she not woken up late.
Sighing, the blonde ran a hand through her hair again, an anxious gesture that was becoming sort of a habit nowadays. Lost in her thoughts, the girl pushed open the large metal door to the training room, and promptly stopped dead in her tracks. There, in the center of the room were two figures, obviously fighting. As they broke apart, Kore was able to make out the faces of Diggs and Pay, a transfer from Erudite and a Dauntless-born initiate. Brow furrowing, she wondered idly why they were going at it, but figured it was something one or both of them said, and chalked it up to the animosity between the two groups of initiates. Turning, Kore had every intention of walking right back out that door before she was seen, but she didn't anticipate the stupid thing to slam shut in her face. "Shoot" she muttered under her breath as the resounding CLANG rang through the room.

Payton refused to look away, adrenaline was now surging through her veins. There was something about the way that he stared at her that lit a fire under her skin. He beckoned to her and Payton knew that she should have resisted, but there was something about the smug look on his face that seemed to push her over the edge. Moving forward, she swiftly ducked - but that was precisely the moment that she felt his foot colliding with her shins. She should have jumped instead of going for the aversion of his fists. Then his hand slammed into her jaw, knocking it a bit too far to the right. That was going to be hurting in a few minutes after her adrenaline rush wore off. She expected him to hit her again, almost anticipated it by grinding her teeth together, but the impact never came. Her hands tensed as she steadied herself against her bruised shins and throbbing chin. Reaching up, she ran her hand across her lips - there was a little blood that stained her skin, but nothing she couldn’t manage. Stop. Calling. Me. Sweetheart. Her internal thoughts were growling at him.
Neither of them moved for a few seconds, watching as Diggs turned around to scan for intruders. Pay knew that it would only be a matter of time before someone found them and intervened...even the Dauntless didn’t want their initiates killing each other during the first round. Moving her eyes back to her opponent, Payton knew it was time for her to assess where she was going to strike next. It seemed like guerrilla attacks were going to be her best bet - get in, do the damage she could, and then get out before he got a hold of her. Diggs stood with his legs too far apart - it didn’t give him the most accurate stance - that being said, Payton reasoned that it was a weakness that she had found. A pressure point that she could prey upon, “Ready if you are, Mute.” She breathed.
Pushing her legs against the pavement, she broke into a sprint, quickly closing the distance between them as she dropped to the floor and slid on her side through his legs. Pay knew she only had a few seconds to react before he realized what she was up to. Spinning on the ground, she used her force to kick the back of his knees, making him buckle, then she was on her feet, wrapping her arm around his neck and tightening her grip as she slammed her knee into his leg again. She didn’t have enough force to break it - she knew that much - but she would have enough time to deprive him of air until he threw her off. Immediately, the brunette realized her mistake; she was at a disadvantage as soon as he realized the position that she was in. Letting him go, she slammed her foot into his back, pushing him forward again as she readied her hands for another go.
There was a CLANG and the brunette looked away from the fight, her eyes hungry for more blood. The Stiff, “Too much of a show for you, Stiff?” All of these Transfers were nosy and needed to learn to stay out of her business. But she wasn't going to give up the fight even though they had an audience...She had taken her eyes off of Diggs for too long and she knew it...

He stood in his stance and watched as the brunette took off for him, in a pure run. He was puzzled for a second but kept his fists ready to go to defend himself. Then she slid through his legs and he knew he’d be in for some trouble. She got right through and placed a well thought out kick to the back of his knee, buckling and forcing him forward. He felt her arms wrap around his neck and pull on his throat. He choked with a laugh and placed his hands on her wrists, as soon as he did she took a step back and kicked him in the back. She knew immediately that he would flip her and she reacted quick. That’s when the noise rang out, he had found his intruder but he expected it. Payton didn’t, she turned and spoke to the intruder. A rival for both of them decided to watch, all it would be is a look into a future ass kicking that she would receive, more than likely from both of them.
Diggs decided to take the opportunity, the first real mistake that Payton had made. He took it in stride, running as she had but this time his hands were extended. He gripped his hand around her throat and drove her into the ground. He then swung himself on top of her, pinning her to the ground. He wasn’t sure if he had knocked her head into the ground or just her shoulders. He knew that the stiff was watching and he wanted to just pummel the girl in front of him but even more so the stiff standing by the door. He began to stand before dropping his knee into her rib twice and then stood up, stepping over her and back to the knives on the table. He picked one up and turned firing it without looking again. Eventually the no look was going to get him in trouble.
The knife hit the same door that the Stiff was opening. He scowled at her without a word and then turned back to Payton. “I don’t perform for audiences. Until next time sweetheart.” He kept walking to the other side, turning his back to her was probably dumb but the second knife he picked up off the table should cover him in that respect.

Kore had planned whole-heartedly to walk out that door and never look back. The two teens could kill each other, for all she cared, it would just be a little less competition for her in the end. Her back was still turned and she had just taken a step when the other girl's voice carried to her across the room. "Too much of a show for you, Stiff?" The blonde stopped, her shoulders straightening marginally though she still didn't turn around. She didn't want to watch them kick each others asses, it'd just psych her out when she had to fight them both in the second round. Knowing that Diggs was from Erudite, Kore figured he would use the girl's distraction against her, and she smiled in satisfaction at the sound of a body slamming into the ground.
The door in front of her was open only a crack now, and Kore figured she could easily slip out before she got dragged into the fight. Of course, that was before a knife sailed by her, planting itself hilt-deep into the door to her left. The girl's entire body was tensed now, both in anger and fear. Kore brought her hand up, wrapping it around the hilt of the knife. Though it took her a good few seconds, she worked the weapon out of the metal door, clenching it in her hand. Korrine turned then, her gaze tracking first over Pay, who was currently on the floor, and then to Diggs, who she assumed had thrown the knife since he was currently the only one standing. The larger boy had his back to her, and Kore figured she would do what she'd come here to do in the first place.
Flipping the knife over in her hand, she pinched the tip of the wicked blade between thumb and forefinger. Kore straightened her arm once, bent it, then snapped it straight again letting the knife fly end over end. The blade sailed past Diggs, who was now at the knife table, to slam and stick into the middle of the head of one of the training dummies. Though she'd been aiming for the heart, Kore figured she would take it as it was. After all, no one else needed to know how bad her aim was. Perhaps if they thought she had some skill, she would be able to make it through the next few rounds of initiation.

Even though she had realized her mistake and managed to return her attention to her assailant, she still hadn’t been expecting him to come at her full force. His arms were outstretched for her and she wondered if she should make a move to the right to avoid the detrimental impact he was about to have on her. But - just as the thoughts crossed her mind - his hands reached her throat. She managed to choke out a laugh just as they fell to the ground, her head slamming hard into the concrete ground. Payton could now add possible concussion to her list of injuries from this morning. She could feel the weight of him pressing against her body, her eyes lighting up with dangerous realization that she may have just lost the fight. He could kill her now - all it would take was his hands around her neck for a few minutes more and he would quite literally stop all oxygen flow. His body weight momentarily disappeared, but with two more grunts, his dropped his knee into her ribcage. That was going to leave a bruise - perhaps even a broken rib or two.
Payton was just going to lay there and let it be over - the fight had physically exhausted her and there were beginning to be too many people around for it to just be a pride war...now it was a show. Her heart was thundering against her chest as she resolved to admit defeat, but the sound of another knife hitting the target stirred something in her. Moving to her side, her fingertips found the knife that Diggs had kicked away from her at the beginning of the fight. Her pale fingertips wound around the weapon, as she bit down on her lip, trying her hardest not to feel the pain that was already setting in. Her eyes watched as the Stiff worked out the knife in the door and sent in sailing back in her direction. This was turning into more of a fire-fight than she had anticipated. Her eyes moved back to Diggs - she would be damned if she was going to let him get out of here without so much as a visible scratch.
He was already on his way out - deciding that he was a bit too posh for fights like this. Payton - on the other hand - was anxious for everyone to see what she could do, especially to Transfers. Hand tight around the knife, she waited until Diggs reached the door, raised her elbow, turned slightly left, and sent the knife sailing in his direction. She wasn’t aiming for him, it was more of a scare tactic and distraction more than anything. The knife hit the wood door, barreling itself into the paneling to the left of Diggs as she took the right off and running. When she reached him, she knotted her hand into the back of his hair and slammed his head against the doorframe with all of her might. She even move for a second time, but the hit was no where near as hard as the first, “It’s not over until you say mercy, Mute.” She breathed. They were now in such close proximity to the blonde Transfer, that she was sure the girl wouldn’t know what to do. Her body was tired - practically revolting against her. Pay knew she only had a few hard hits left in her before she physically could not continue, “Better move, blondie. Wouldn’t want you to ruin your perfectly Stiff good-looks, eh?” She muttered, lifting her knee as it came into contact with Diggs’ side.

Diggs was walking tall towards the exit when the Stiff fired a blade past him into the target, based on her arm angle she had meant to hit the heart but a headshot works just as well. He turned back to her and scowled again, he wasn’t sure if he could ever forgive the stiff. The idea of Abby falling straight through her arms was a punch to his stomach every time he saw her. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of time for thoughts like that as he felt his head being slammed into the door frame. Blood began to drip into his eyes immediately and he got smashed into it again. He heard Payton’s voice even as his ears were ringing and then felt her knee in his side. He grinned.
He was quick to react, he gripped her leg with his elbow and kept it against his side. He spun the blade in his other hand and stabbed down, right above the knee. It was deep but it wouldn’t cause any lasting damage, he made sure to be careful of that. He spun around with the blade still stuck into the young brunette’s leg and looked into her eyes. “You should have quit while you were ahead Sweetie.” He felt his own blood in his mouth and spat it at her. He used his free hand to wipe his forehead and then pushed her away.
He turned quickly to the Stiff and spoke for the first time to her since the time on the train. “You may wanna try again” he tossed the blade end over end. He moved closer to her and spoke softly. “Or it may be you she tries to stab next” He wasn't sure what made him say it, he hated the bitch and wanted her dead but here he was helping her. Maybe he was more gu...no. No! This was her fault, not his. Then with that he walked to the door and leaned against it smelling his own blood on the door, for the first time noticing the other person in the room. One of their instructors was watching the whole thing, he wasn’t sure how she would react or what she would think of him attacking her, either way he did it.
