SOMEHOW I FOUND A WAY TO GET LOST IN YOU
The familiar sound of people chatting and music blaring in the background felt more than just weird to the young factionless who once belonged here as well. But those times were over now and years have passed. When was the last time he spent time at this place? It has been seven years. . .seven long years. For whatever reason he was feeling homesick now, the smell of burgers and chocolate cake hovering around his nose - a smell that would make anyone's mouth water.
he tensed, pushing the door aside and walked in with a straight back. knowing he was now very different from the others he could feel them staring at him but simply ignored it. long strides carried him to one of the tables in the middle where one of the leaders sat. max didn't recognize his face supposing he was new. after seven years such a change would not be surprising. holding out his arm he handed him the file which he brought with him. the brunette wasn't really fond of hanging around the dauntless sector but he had no choice. first they said bring it over to the entrance, there would be no need to enter. but apaprently they changed their minds and told him to go inside where he would meet the person. great. it couldn't get any worse right? of course it could.
the boy turned around, ready to leave. while he made his way to the exit he couldn't resist but smirk at a couple of dauntless he recognized as his fellow past-initiates. "long time no see." he blurted out. before he was able to leave someone insulted him, calling him names. clenching his teeth he continued walking but. . .with the next one he spun around, walked back to the guy, his name Johnny if he remembered right. It wasn't the right thing to do but provoking him was a bad idea. Max used to be a dauntless initiate after all. With a smooth swing of his right arm his fist connected with the cheek of Johnny boy.
Within seconds there was an uproar in the dining hall. other dauntless' cheering on their mate. their yells and shouts echoed through the stone walls. "How dare you?!" Johnny asked furiously. "I don't know." Max said with a shrug while smiling brightly at him. "Your face is as ugly as it used to be. I just tried to fix it." he added with a chuckle. Just as he wanted to turn around he felt a knuckles hit his jaw, making him stumble backwards. Without much of a break another hit. The former dauntless raised his eyebrow, wiping away some blood which drippled down his lips. "Nice." he mumbled before he threw himself at him for a fight.

It was another day at the Dauntless compound, and Carmen walked into the dining hall, together with one of her fellow colleague, which basically means they work together in the same control room everyday, 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. She had to admit, 7 hard years of being stuck with this moron beside her was driving her nuts, and if she didn't punch something soon she would go crazy. Matthew, her colleague, blabbed on and on beside her about how Candor people are stupid - they had observed a few Candor kids throwing sticks at a stray dog, and eventually the dog chased them up a tree, to the pleasure of Matthew. Oh shut up, will you? Those Candor kids are probably going to grow up like you. Carmen rolled her eyes at the said boy beside her.
The smell of Dauntless chocolate cake and hamburger hit her, and Carmen nearly started to drool. I'll go get some food for us. Matthew offered, and she nodded in response, taking a seat at their usual table. She rested her chin on her palm, and she scanned the crowd, a habit of hers. Her eyes rested on a familiar face, and she gasped softly.
Max. She whispered to herself.
He was factionless, after dropping out of initiation 7 years ago for unknown reasons, which was a shame. He was probably the best among the initiates and wasn't arrogant and selfish. In fact, he was the total opposite, he was selfless, which wasn't surprising - being a former "Stiff". Carmen bit her lip as she remembered how he used to train her alone, as she was terrible at fighting, and was ranked lowly. He should've been building up his own fighting skills, yet, he sacrificed his time for her. Besides all that training, they also hung out together, and she slowly grew feelings for him.
But that was in the past now. Dauntless and the factionless aren't supposed to mix, and furthermore, Carmen wasn't sure if Max felt the same way about her. She tried to calm her racing heart and looked away from him, completely ignoring his existence.
God was playing a cruel joke on her then, because Max automatically drew attention to himself. Johnny, a fellow initiate of theirs, hurled an insult to Max, and almost immediately, Max strode towards him and punched his cheek. Oh god.. Carmen groaned and placed her head on the table as the Dauntless started cheering for Johnny. She glanced at Max and couldn't help but smile a little - he was still as hot tempered as usual, eh? She masked her smile with a frown as Matthew came back amist all the chaos holding two plates of hamburger and cake. He sat in front her, blocking her view. Man, what's going on? He whistled, turning his head to watch the fight. Hey, your fat head's blocking me. Carmen teased, pushing his head to the side so she could see.
How dare you?! Johnny roared. Max gave a playful grin and shrugged his shoulders, Your face is as ugly as it used to be. I just tried to fix that. Well, that did it, because Johnny punched Max in the jaw, and the latter stumbled backwards, blood turning his lips into a bright shade of red. Max wiped the blood away, and the two of them started getting into a fight. The Dauntless around them roared in satisfaction, excited for a fight.
Now, surprisingly for a Dauntless, Carmen hated fighting, and the scene in front of her annoyed her tremendously, and she stood up, muttering, That's it... Ignoring Matthew's bewildered look, Carmen forced her way through the crowd, until both Max and Johnny were in front of her, engrossed in a bloodshed fight.
Max. She said in a quiet voice, trying to attract his attention so they would just stop this silly fight.

SOMEHOW I FOUND A WAY TO GET LOST IN YOU
as a former dauntless initiate max had not forgotten how to properly fight, attack and deflect. he took a couple of blows as his opponent tried to hit him in the face. being a tad bit smarter than him the brunette aimed for his solar plexus which wasn't guarded. putting all his strength into this one hit, he punched as hard as he could to knock the air out of johnny boy. being rather impulsive he hit again but missed as the other boy jumped to the side, grabbed his arm and spun him around smacking his head of the nearest table. something wet dripped down his eyebrow and a headache started to immerge form the right upper side of his head. but before more damage to both boys could be done someone interrupted them.
although the voice was rather quiet and barely audible for anyone further away than them he recognized it immediately. the familiarity of the voice was shattering and amde him wince in his head. the voice he had not heard for a long amount of time which felt like eternity still sounded like back then - it was still the same.
Max dropped his arms instantly as soon as he heard her say his name. she told him to stop and so he did. he was tempted to turn his head and look at her but on the other hand he didn't want to so he just kept his eyes on johnny with his fists clenched by his side. he gritted his teeth to stop himself from doing anything although he really wanted to beat him up.
he took a deep breath, breathing in with his mouth and out with his nose. "don't worry I was just about to leave." he said and turned around avoiding her gaze as best as he could by staring straight ahead which forced him to still get a glimpse of her. but he couldn't lower his head or else it would make him a weakling in front of the dauntless. ruthlessly he pushed his way through the crowd ignoring all their comments until he was finally out of the dining hall and in the cold corridor. everything looked pretty much the same.
taking a couple more deep breaths to calm himself down which he somewhat managed to do he just stood there for a minute - a minute to let everything that happened in the past ten minutes to sink in slowly. he didn't know being apart from someone for so long could be this worse. as something red dripped onto his cheek he wiped it away with the hem of his plain grey sweater, which used to be white at some point.

Carmen watched, horrified, as Johnny and Max exchanged blows. Max hit his opponent hard, and Johnny stumbled backwards, obviously hurt. The crowded jeered - it seemed that the factionless just beat the crap out of a Dauntless. But the fight wasn't over. Johnny jumped to the side, grabbing Max's arm, and spun him around, and Max's head hit a table, a loud crash resounded through out the room when forehead and metal met, the crowd cheering loudly.
Upon hearing Carmen's quiet voice, Max immediately stopped, deflating like a balloon. Blood trickled down his forehead and Carmen's heart sank as she saw him in that state. It's been so long, and this was definitely not how Carmen imagined their tearful reunion would be like. Max refused to look into Carmen's eyes, or even look at her, and he merely mumbled "don't worry I was just about to leave.", his eyes fixated on Johnny. His fist clenched, his teeth gritted, and his eyes hard, Carmen nearly couldn't recognise him this way.
He turned, already walking towards the doors of the dining hall. There were murmurs by the Dauntless everywhere, all judging Max, Carmen presumed. The crowd was dispersing, and Carmen knew she should go back to her seat with Matthew, but she didn't want to give up this chance to finally meet Max again, to chat like old times, to playfully punch each other again. She turned her head to Matthew's direction, mouthing I'll be right back. Without caring if Matthew understood her or not, she squeezed through the already half-dispersed crowd, after Max.
She pushed the doors of the dining hall open, her eyes scanning the corridor for a glimpse of Max. She spotted him at the corner of the corridor, and she walked towards him, her heart pounding. She stopped directly in front of him, and opened her mouth to speak.
Still as reckless as ever eh? She smirked, then her smile faded away as she noticed his blood stained sweater. Are you alright?

SOMEHOW I FOUND A WAY TO GET LOST IN YOU
While he wanted to leave the dauntless sector, the familiarity of the place made him want to stay. the smell of an underground cage a mix of stones, sand and metall, the noises - a crowded dinner hall, people fighting, gun shots. everything just reminded him of his past initiate days but the one thing which made it hurt was her. just as he thought about it he heard her voice once again. after staring blankly at the floor he didn't look at her but fixed his eyes on the stone beneath his feet. At the mention of him being as reckless as ever he chuckled, shoulders trembling slightly. "As you can see." he said motioning with his arm at the entrance to the dining hall and then at his face.
His head hurt a little after hitting the table. The brunette crossed his arms, not wanting to show any signs of weakness, and leaned against the wall behind him the cold making its way through his sweater but it felt good. he was used to the cold anyway having to wrap himself in several pieces of clothing he possessed every winter. though, he didn't have many clothes so it would never be warm. the perks of being factionless: not much laundry to do.
"You know how he is and you know how I am. it's johnny, you can't just walk past him without wanting to smack him." he uttered as he balled his fists and waved them in front of him punching the air. "Yeah, I'm fine." he said with a simple shrug before lifting his head to look at her, flashing her a smile. "It's just a scratch." he added. "No need to look at me like that. It's not like this is a life threatning wound. My head is made out of iron." the factionless boy told her while patting his head before running a hand through his slightly curly hair. Smirking he nodded at her expression, one dark eyebrow raised. "long time no see, carmen." although he smiled, and his smile was genuine, there was a sad glint in his eyes. as soon as her name left his lips he felt a bitter aftertaste.
notes: sorry it's so short! I'll try to make the next post longer again.

Max avoided Carmen's gaze, his eyes glued to the cold, stone ground. He laughed quietly upon hearing her comment on his recklessness. "As you can see." He said, gesturing to the dining hall, then to his face. It certainly was no laughing matter, but Carmen smiled a bit, at least he still had his sense of humour.
Max folded his arms, leaning against the cool wall behind, acting cool as usual - Carmen smirked inwardly at the thought. He'd been like that ever since she'd known him during initiation, and it bugged her, she thought he was cool enough without the need to act. It was good, however, to know that he hadn't changed much these years. "You know how he is and you know how I am. it's johnny, you can't just walk past him without wanting to smack him." Carmen chuckled a little at his statement. Right, he was. Johnny was one of the most annoying initiates in their batch, and Carmen was a little upset that he made it past initiation - he topped her list of people she hoped would fail initiation.
Also, Max looked like a kid punching the air. It was rather cute, she must admit.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a scratch. No need to look at me like that. It's not like this is a life threatning wound. My head is made out of iron." Max reassured Carmen, tapping his head to prove his point. She raised her eyebrows, still not convinced, but it'll have to do. At that point, he had raised his head, finally glancing at her, shooting her a cheesy grin. He smirked at her, hair running through his dark hair, an eyebrow raised.
"long time no see, carmen." Max greeted, and Carmen nodded her head in response. It's been a while, Max. She mumbled. Do you need me to treat your wounds? She offered, as a drop of blood trickled down his fore head.
it's no problem

SOMEHOW I FOUND A WAY TO GET LOST IN YOU
just looking at her made him think of their old times together. ever since that day - the day he left - he wondered what would have happened if he didn't drop out. perhaps she would have been in his place then but what if both of them went through initiation successfully. what would have life been living here, at the dauntless sector. would it be like today with him getting into fights everyday or would he be too busy working as a guard or even as a guard at the fence. now that he came to think of it living as he does now didn't seem so bad anymore. no rules, no restrictions, no one who tells him what to do. he was kind of free. what if, what if, what if . . . there were so many ifs he had no answers to.
"ha yeah. a while." he uttered his gaze shifting to the ceiling. "it has been a very very long while. six years if I counted right?" and yet there she was looking almost exactly the same to him as if time had stopped for them. granted he didn't change much appearance wise as well. his hair wasn't as smooth as it used to be, his clothes were torn and his face might be a bit more rough than before. but all that really didn't matter to him - he stopped caring a while ago.
"it's just a s-" he wanted to repeat after she offered to treat his wound but he felt the warm blood dripple down on his cheek - one drop after another. letting out a slightly frustrated sigh "does it look that bad?" he asked her glancing up trying to see the wound with no success. he thought about it. simply going home without medical attention and treatment made the risk of getting the wound infected higher. they didn't have any infirmaries out there on the streets. everything they could do was clean it with their clothes and maybe water. if they were lucky the abnegation people would bring some things with them to help other than food but it was usually just food - which he didn't mind at all. not getting hurt or wounded was far easier when you don't have much to get hurt with except if you are Max and run around every day - which also meant tripping once in a while if he wasn't careful enough.
yet another sigh escaped the young man's lips as he came to a decision. "well, maybe . . ."

Max seemed to look at her with curiosity, although, Carmen thought she was only imagining that. Oh how she'd missed him, she longed to just walked up to him and give him another bear hug, who knows when they can meet again, right? But the blood on his head, it made her heart hurt, and plus, if she'd hugged him, there would probably be blood on her hands, and that could get messy. Not only literally. Imagine seeing a Dauntless with blood on her palms, the first thing any normal human would think would be she'd murdered someone, especially since Dauntless were always known for losing their temper, herself wasn't an exception. It would probably be best if his wounds were cleaned up first.
"ha yeah. a while." Max looked up to the ceiling, breaking their eye contact again. "it has been a very very long while. six years if i counted right?" Carmen nodded, indeed, it had already been six years. She found herself a little dumb after that, he wasn't even looking at her. Yeah.. It certainly had been six years. She chuckled, her right hand running its fingers through her brown locks. She observed his features, he did mature quite a lot. His hair was a tad messier, he started to wear clothes that were ripped in some parts, exposing a little skin. His face was rougher, and Carmen was admiring it further. But she looked away soon, she didn't want to be caught cooing over her friend's new features.
"it's just a s-" Scratch? Carmen wanted to complete his sentence, but instead she simply raised her eyebrows as he realized blood was dripping, drop by drop, down his forehead, and he sighed in frustration. "does it look that bad?" He asked, while trying to look at the wound, but failed, of course. She nodded. Max looked conflicted for a short moment, trying to decide if he should indeed accept her offer. She rolled her eyes, tapping her feet impatiently. "well, maybe ..." Still indecisive, huh? Well, that was as good as a yes to her, and she closed the distance between them with two strides, and grabbed hold of his wrist. Now, don't trip. She teased, and turned on her heels.
She immediately headed for her room, while worrying that if she delayed any further Max could lose too much blood. Well, maybe that was an exaggeration, but it could happen. Her room - apartment - thank god, was close to the pit, and they reached in 5 minutes flat, she opened the door quickly and allowed him in, shutting the door quickly. She didn't want any gossip from her neighbors, that could get messy real quick. Again, she reminded herself that the factionless and Dauntless aren't supposed to mix, but all Carmen wanted was for Max to stay. Take a seat on the bed. She commanded, rather gently, while she searched her small apartment for the first aid kit.
Her apartment was rather small, with only a toilet as the other room. Her kitchen, pathetic as it was, bed, and a small television were all in the room, the same room that one would step into once entering her apartment. Usually she'd only be in her so called home resting, but today was definitely different. It was the first time someone had been over. But now's not the time to worry about how to entertain her guest. She had to find that bloody first aid kit first, then tend to Max's wounds.

His eyes immediately fell onto the hands closing around his wrist. Now, don’t trip. She said to him obviously as a tease. He rolled his eyes at her in response, smirking. “Trying.” He added. Following her walking rather quickly behind her he stayed quiet. He knew pretty well that the factionless were not welcomed inside other sectors or really anywhere. They were always treated like dirt as if they were disease bringing insects or trash polluting the world. They weren’t even treated as human beings anymore and it was beyond imagination how cruel and sucky life was when you were factionless. Max wasn’t mad at her for hurrying, he wasn’t too excited about others seeing him around but on the other hand he really couldn’t care less. Whatever they thought of him didn’t matter to him – at least most of the time but sometimes you just cannot help it.
He had to admit punching Johnny, which he was yearning to do very often during their initiate time, felt damn good. Getting into a fight and feeling the pain was some sort of stress relief, however, he was nowhere near being masochistic or anything the like. Not only did being here trigger something in his head but just seeing that guy’s face made him go wild. Resisting was too hard and difficult.
When she told him, or rather commanded him though not exactly as harsh as a command should be, to take a seat on the bed he stared at her for a minute. He crossed his arms, head slightly dropping as he looked at the ground and chuckled. Was this really the girl he had met six years ago and was having a crush on? The same girl he had tried to protect with all his might. “Yes, madame.” He mumbled walking further to the bed and then sat down on it, the mattress sinking in slightly. His head pounded from the hit on the table and sitting felt definitely better than standing. Absentmindedly he put his fingers on his temples, rubbing as he closed his eyes for a few seconds.
His eyes wandered around her apartment while she was busy looking for the first aid kit. It was small but probably big enough for one person to stay in. Kitchen, bedroom and living room were all together in one single room. “So that’s where you live now hm?” he asked quietly, smiling ever so slightly. Green eyes narrowed at the small television in her room. To be honest he hasn’t seen one of these for quite a while. The mattress and blanket felt soft under his touch as he let his hand brush over it. The room smelled surprisingly good, better than the smell of stone, sweat and sand outside in the corridors. A feminine smell, he thought. The thought of laying down on her bed was tempting but he didn’t want to be rude or make it dirty with his clothes so he just remained seated, just leaning back slightly. “Take your time. It’s not like I’m going to die of bloodloss or anything.” He said with a laugh, joking around as usual.
He couldn’t help but wonder how his apartment or room would have looked like. Small? Big? Would it have a balcony? Where would his bed be . . . which colors would the walls have. His house back at the Abnegation sector was just a plain gray block with plain interior – everything was simply plain. There was not a single splotch of color anywhere and that was probably how his room would look like here. Plain and simple. He actually liked it that way. There was no need for fancy stuff or overly colorful wallpapers, decoration and whatnot. He would be considered lucky to even have a room. But now he is so used to sleeping outside that it was rather comfortable but of course nothing compared to a real bed.
“Do you need any help?” he asked, watching her still searching for it.

Carmen saw, from the corners of her eyes, after she commanded Max to take a seat that he stared at her as though in disbelief, before looking down and mumbling a "Yes, madame." What was that all about? She shook that thought out of her head, focusing on searching for that unused first aid kit. She finally found it stashed away in a kitchen cabinet, and she took it out, just as Max asked if she needed any help.
Yeah, this is pretty much where I live now. Carmen sighed, looking around at her room. She didn't need the room to be all fancy because she spent most of her time in the control room, staring at the rectangle screens that showed every corner of the dauntless compound and more. She'd seen Max on the screens a couple of times, running errands for lazy people, and she nearly couldn't peel her eyes from the screen, until Matthew distracted her yet again.
Carmen noticed Max's awkward posture - he was sitting on the bed, leaning back a little as if he wanted to lay on the bed but didn't dare too. She rolled her eyes, and pushed him back lightly, so that he laid on the bed completely, Now's not the time to stand on ceremony. She pouted, taking a chair from behind and sitting beside the bed. She placed the first aid kit on her lap and opened it, taking out cotton swab and some medicine. Hold still, she mumbled, her eyes focused on his wound. She dabbed the wound lightly with medicine, wincing a little as though she felt pain herself. Bear with the pain for a while, please.
Once done with treating the wound, she bandaged the wound up, making sure it was secure. There, all done.

His eyes widened slightly when she pushed him back and he ended up lying on the comfortable bed anyway. Well, if she insisted. The ususal grin returned and he looked at the ceiling while she worked on the wound, treating it with care. Without much effort he held still, not moving a bit as she told him not to. As a wince escaped her lips he raised an eyebrow which in return just sent a jolt of pain through his forehead and forced him to wince too even though it wasn't the medicine's fault but rather his own. "There's much worse I had to bear with than burning medicine." he thought out loud frowning a little before he actually realized what he just said, but to save the situation put a smile on to assure her it was fine and that he was fine as well.
He glanced at her from time to time, secretly saving the new memories of her as he looked at her more mature face. Brushing the bandage with his fingers he grinned at her. “Thanks.” he said, pushing himself up again, supporting his upper body with his arms. "Well, it's all neat and comfortable I guess." he noted with a shrug. Of course he could only guess. The last time he had a room of his own was back then at the Abnegation sector and that was years ago. In contrary to the memories of her the memories of his old home and family had already started to fade a long time ago.
His gaze wandered to her again - a mix of pain and bliss. Green eyes hovered over her beautiful face before he let out a heavy sigh and propped himself up until he was in a sitting position again. "I'm not supposed to be here." he mumbled, throwing his legs over the edge of the bed which he only reluctantly left. However, he had to remember that he was factionless now and he wasn't supposed to be in any of the faction's sectors unless he had work to do. The factionless were unwanted guests.
Though, as he sat on the bed right in front of her he let his eyes rest on hers one more time refusing to take them off of her. He wasn't even sure why she helped him, why she treated his wounds or why she even let him into her room - heck, he didn't even know what she thought of him even after all these years. There was this uncomfortable uncertainty which drove him crazy ever since. "As much I would like to stay because I just happened to fall in love with your bed we all know I should probably leave." he told her, one corner of his lips lifted upwards. I don't want you to get into trouble because of me, he thought to himself.
Note: Did I tell you I love your posts?

Carmen cringed when she saw him wince a little. Normally, if this was Matthew or whoever, she'd just smirk a little and take pleasure in his pain, but no, this was Max, and whether Carmen admitted it or not, she still had some feelings for the former abnegation transfer. Shit, I'm sorry.. She mumbled, frowning a little. "There's much worse I had to bear with than burning medicine." She raised her eyebrows at that, her hand stopped dabbing at the wound momentarily. He gave her a reassurring smile, and she continued treating the wound, then bandaged it up.
Carmen nodded as Max thanked her, and she stood up to keep the first aid box where it orignally was. She then walked back to the stool and plopped back on it, her eyes meeting his. It's no problem. The corner of her lips curled into the smallest of smiles, and a little part of her, the childish part, wanted to pinch his cheek a little, just like before. She pushed that thought away - childish people wouldn't survive in dauntless.
"I'm not supposed to be here." Max let out a sigh, and he sat up, his legs dangling beside the bed. Right, there was that stupid rule about Faction over Blood, though technically they weren't related by blood, but they had something. At least, it was something to Carmen, and this was definitely against the rules. If she was caught, she'd probably be in big trouble.
But hey, the dauntless were infamous for breaking rules all the time.
Max could, however, stay in her room and have a nice sweet chat just like old times, and no one would even notice. There wasn't a security camera in her room for privacy reasons and even if there were, she would have known, her job required her to observe every inch of the compound through the cameras after all. What could Carmen possibly have anything to worry about? Besides the fact that her neighbours could be nosy and decide to peer through her window, but what were the odds of that?
"As much I would like to stay because I just happened to fall in love with your bed we all know I should probably leave." A giggle escaped Carmen's lips at Max's witty comment, not at the fact that he was suggesting he had to leave, but that he had fallen in love with an inanimate object. Do you fall in love that easily? She teased, then realised what it sounded like. Her heart twisted as she realized Max could've fallen in love with so many girls within this few years, and not her since they rarely met after initiation. It didn't help that Max was always constantly moving from faction to faction. He could fall in love with a selfless or kind girl, or an intelligent or honest girl, but a dauntless girl like Carmen herself? It seemed rather unlikely. She inwardly sighed, it was hopeless, wasn't it?
But hey, you could stay for a while. My shift's over and there aren't cameras in here so you wouldn't get caught. Please say yes, please say yes.
notes really? :3 that made my day ♡

“It’s fine. Don’t worry.” He told her, raising his eyebrows as she swore a little. It wasn’t a big deal, really. His fingers moved up to the bandage on his head as he brushed over it. His head was still throbbing slightly but the pain overall was gone for now and there was no blood dropping onto him anymore so it seemed as if it was perfectly fine now. Dropping his hand his eyes stayed on her as she walked around the room to put the first aid kit away before returning. “Thank you.” he said again before clearing his throat.
The corners of his lips turned upwards when he heard the familiar giggle which left her lips. It echoed in his head as if it was a long forgotten sound he had just remembered again. Actually, it was more like a faded memory, memories he treasured and kept dear but time slowly started erasing them from his memories to make room for new ones. But of course her laugh, her smile, even the slightest grin of hers he would try to keep forever even if he had to sacrifice other memories. He returned her giggle with a laugh, however, he tried to keep it quiet so her neighbors or anyone walking by outside wouldn’t be alarmed by his voice. “I think falling in love with inanimated objects is by far easier than with humans. Inanimated objects don’t have feelings. Makes things easier I guess.” He explained, though half of it was a joke. “Besides,-“ he said with a shrug, his eyes lingering on hers for just a bit longer. Pausing, he pondered for a few seconds. Lips parted as if he wanted to say something but in the end he closed his mouth again without continuing what he wanted to say. Instead he grinned again quickly dismissing the thoughts. "How could I, a factionless man, dare to fall in love with a bed from Dauntless?" he asked, just kidding, with a fake gasp.
In his head several thoughts were crossing but all of them contained her name. Six years and he still couldn't tell her, couldn't tell her how beautiful she was and kind, smart but also brave. Even after so many years he couldn't say it, afraid to endanger her. The Dauntless were known for their harsh punishments. But her becoming factionless was far worse for him. He didn't want his sacrifice to be for nothing even if that meant having to stay away and not being able to see her.
When she told him he could stay for a while and telling him that there were no cameras to get caught on he thought about. He was torn between making the decision to leave which meant returning to the outside and to stay in the comfort of her room. The latter sounded, of course, better but it wasn’t really his decision to make was it? However, he soon got an unexpected reply from his stomach as it growled at him, demanding food. With a shrug he looked at her, smirking as he put a hand on his tummy which decided to notify him of hunger in a rather inconvenient moment.
Now, this was slightly embarrassing. A hint of pink tinted his cheeks. Quickly averting his gaze he scratched his head, looking at random objects in the room. “I guess someone-“ he mumbled, gesturing at his growling stomach, “wants to stay.” He finished, the continuous growling convincing him. At the thought of food he remembered the smell of the dining hall from earlier. The hearty smell of the meat being prepared for the burgers and the faint but sweet scent of the famous dauntless chocolate cake. Max gulped, putting his fingers to his lips. “You don’t happen to have something edible in here, do you? I mean it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. An energy bar or even cereals would be more than perfect. Just something to shut it up.”
Note: Omg. Sorry for the wait! x.x

"I think falling in love with inanimated objects is by far easier than with humans. Inanimated objects don’t have feelings. Makes things easier I guess.”Carmen raised her eyebrows when she heard Max said that, and she stared back into his eyes, wondering if he was joking. "Besides-" He opened his mouth slightly, as though he wanted to say something, and Carmen let her hopes up a little, before he continued. "How could I, a factionless man, dare to fall in love with a bed from Dauntless?" He joked, with a fake gasp, and Carmen rolled her eyes, whacking his arm lightly and she looked away, chewing on her bottom lip lightly. She had missed days like these, where the two of them would sit together at secluded corners, and talk about almost everything, yet amazingly enough, the topic of both their love interests never came up. She wanted to ask him, curious, but decided against it, it would be weird for a girl to do so.
She was snapped out of her thoughts, when a low growl could be heard, and she stared at Max, who placed his hands on his stomach, grinning sheepishly. "I guess someone wants to stay." He gestured to his stomach, and Carmen stared, wide-eyed. Was it tough being factionless, that food was a problem? She knew the factionless were poor and all, because they had the worst jobs but she didn't think... never mind, she should probably tend to his hunger first.
Standing up yet again, she walked to the minibar in her tiny kitchen, and opened the door, taking out a plate of dauntless chocolate cake, a specialty of the faction. Don't worry, it's pretty fresh, I smuggled it out of the dining hall yesterday. I was saving it up, but i figured you would probably miss the taste of this amazing chocolate cake, after all the years and all. She held the cake with both hands, a fork in one of her hands, and she walked back to Max, taking a seat on the stool and offered him the cake. Here you go.
notes my muse is back ♡ and it's noproblem! this reply took me quite a while too...
