The Amity believed in working, that was for sure. Her first year as a fruit picker had been compromised solely of waking up at dawn, helping feed the livestock, and then working out in the fields picking the fruit. When she had first been told about what she would be doing she had questioned if this had been a mistake. If she wanted to work like an animal she could have stayed in Dauntless but instead of waking up to a screaming trainer she had woken up to someone playing the guitar and she had fed the baby calves after that then they had all sang songs and told stories while they worked in the fields. Sure it was hard work, but she wasn't alone in it. She was able to open up and share in everything with her new family. That first year had passed and she realized she had a knack for counseling, and now she rarely did field work unless she wanted to. She sometimes chose to pick the fruit again however, just to visit with the newer transfers. It was during one of those visits when one of the Candor transfers brought up a musical. She had watched as the faces of about seven transfers lit up and they began discussing who would play what part and when they could practice. She was chiming in when would be the best times to play and rehearse when they had asked her to be apart of it. She at first turned them down, but after they continued to beg she eventually gave in. They figured out which one they wanted and two days later the small group was in the cafeteria practicing while everyone else was still out in the field. They had ran through the actual parts and now it was time for the first dance number. She had just a small role, nothing too extraordinary, she had wanted them to take the leads, she wanted them to bond. She had watched the first set go over smoothly and clapped and encouraged everyone when they needed it. She then joined them on stage for her number. After a bit of going over the lines they began playing the music to practice the moves to. She had just grabbed one of the guy's hands and did a spin with him when he let go a bit too soon and sent her making a turn close to the edge of the stage. She yelped a little and felt her foot slip off the edge, falling off the stage and towards the ground.

Simon may be a dauntless tattoo artist on the outside but inside he was a caring amity boy. He loved visiting home and took every chance he could. He told the lie that he was seeing how the transfers were doing. He did go see them but he always saw his family first. Nobody knew this but his family. So when he got up he dressed himself and got onto the train to go to amity.
Once he got there he said hi to the remaining members of his family. Gave them each a hug and walked of to go see the transfers. Only s few of dauntless this year are at amity. He saw them on a stage with other amity members one with blonde hair that he remembered from the group of transfers last year. As he got closer to the stage he saw he trip and start falling.
Simon ran with his dauntless speed and caught her in his arms. He gave the blonde a smirk before smiling, "Good thing i was here wouldn't you say?"

Adelaide had planned on the fall, she had closed her eyes in preparation of hitting the floor. She vaguely wondered if she would break anything. The stage was a few feet off the ground and depending on where and what she landed on there was a good chance she would at least twist something. She had made peace with it in those first few seconds but it never came. She felt herself land in someone's arms. She opened her eyes and was momentarily shocked to be staring into the eyes of a stranger. A strange guy to be exact, he had smirked and said it was a good thing he was here and she smiled brightly at him.
She looked into his blue/grey eyes and blushed a little at the thought of being so close to a guy so handsome. She couldn't see what he was wearing of course, so she assumed he was in the same faction as her. She was positive she hadn't seen him around the compound, but she found herself happy that she was seeing him now. " Yes, thank you...I think I might have broken something if you hadn't been."
She had one of her arms around his neck and she was still currently in his arms as she looked over at the stage at the others. They were all standing awkwardly and looking at her as if something was wrong. She didn't understand it really, they looked almost like they were waiting on a fight to break out or holding their breath waiting for something to happen. She hadn't hurt herself so she didn't understand why they were looking so strangely. She looked back into the face of her rescuer and smiled a little. " I think I owe you a dinner or dessert at the very least."

Simon could see the transfers looking at him and her. She was pretty but honestly she was a dauntless traitor. Then again he was an amity traitor. She had an arm wrapped around his neck and told him she owned him a dinner or desert. He shook his head and smiled again. "Nothing can compare to dauntless cake. But i thank you for the offer."
He gently set her down and put his hands behind his back scanning the transfers. He wanted to call out the few by name but that would be rude. He wasn't an initiate trainer so he really didn't knowhow to yell as loud as they could. "Just came to see if the transfers were doing okay. I guess with someone like you they must be doing fine." He bent down slightly to whisper something in her ear. "I would be honored to take up your offer on dinner though."

When he mentioned Dauntless cake she got a questioning look in her face. Why had he brought up Dauntless? Was he a former initiate too? Had he heard about her coming from there as well? Then when he set her down she finally understood what they had been wary about: he was Dauntless. She looked over the black clothes, and was a little surprised he had chosen to catch her instead of letting her fall. When he said that they were lucky to have her she briefly wondered if he was being sarcastic but he seemed genuine and she smiled a little. " Well, I don't think I'm all that much help they seem to being doing well on their own." She shrugged a little. She hadn't necessarily felt like they needed her, but it was nice to hear someone say so, especially if that someone was handsome and from a totally different faction...Dauntless no less.
When he said he would be honored to take her out to dinner she immediately felt her cheeks get hot. She had never expected something so dashingly charming coming out of the mouth of a Dauntless guy. She smiled slyly at him " hhmm are you sure that's allowed? I wouldn't want to get you in trouble." She smiled playfully and tried to recall seeing him before. After a few moments of trying to place his face she gave up, she had usually spent her days keeping as far away from other Dauntless members as she could so she probably hadn't ever seen him before. She extended her hand out to him and smiled again. " I'm Adelaide Clark, and you are...?"

Simon shrugged when she asked if he would get in trouble. He got in trouble every day in amity for stuff that he can get away with in dauntless. "I used to get in trouble a bunch of times sweet heart." He said with a smirk on his face. It may have sounded like he was flirting when he wasn't. He didn't care.
Simon heard her name and took a step back. He knew her brother, hardly but he knew him. Her brother was dauntless born just like her. He knew if she heard his last name or his true name that she would know who he was. "I go by Red." He told her. In dauntless they called him red. When he was in initiation he would beat all his opponents till they bleed. He would rather be called Simon but for people he didn't trust yet he would rather be called Red.

Adelaide raised her eyebrow a little when he said he got in trouble all the time. Either he was very cocky and wanted to be cute or he was stating a fact. Because he was a Dauntless in Amity she leaned more towards the later one. Amity was a lot more relaxed when it came to letting people visit and people who had issues transferring over from one faction to another, but she knew Dauntless wasn't. She couldn't count the number of time that she had heard faction before blood above all else. It was nauseating, people expecting one another to just forget who they used to be and who they left behind. They could act all they wanted, but sooner or later life would show itself. You couldn't push it all away and pretend it didn't happen.
When she said her name and he stepped back she tried not to laugh. It was apparent that he knew her family, or maybe he finally understood he was talking to the infamous Dauntless traitor that she was. Either way she didn't care, she didn't feel bad about leaving her old faction and there was nothing that could make her. She was the happiest she had ever been in Amity. When he said his name she raised her eyebrows. She had never met Red of course, but she had heard of his reputation. " Hmm, so you're the infamous Red huh? I thought you'd be a lot more meaner looking." She smiled playfully. It was halfway true, she had always imagined the guy in the stories as some sort of huge, not too friendly looking guy. She had certainly never imagined someone who looked even halfway handsome as the boy in front of her. " So, why do you care about the transfers? I thought you lot were brainwashed to hate everyone who didn't wear black." She grinned again at her small joke hoping he didn't suddenly take offense and tackle her or something.

Simon laughed when she said she thought he would be meaner. He looked her in the eyes and spoke to her. "And here i thought you the famous Adi Clark, would be more perky." He lifted his head up a little bit. If he scared her he didn't mean it. It was just to keep him from getting hurt. The only people he was nice to was his family. He didn't show his nice side very often to anyone else.
He laughed when she asked if he was brainwashed to hate everyone not in black. He shifted his weight over to one side and spoke again, "Not everyone is like that sweetheart. Maybe one day you will learn my real name. As for why i care about the transfers maybe I'll tell you why another time sweetheart."

She raised her eyes questioningly again as he said he thought she would be more perky. She hadn't known she had a reputation in Dauntless, did everyone know about her leaving? Did they shout it out through the hallway after the ceremony? She almost laughed at the thought. She had never paid much attention to the Dauntless members who had lost someone during the past ceremonies. She had always been too busy being envious of the ones who were brave enough to leave. She had always wondered if she would be brave enough to make the decision when the time came. She was worried the pressure from her family might be too much but it had all worked out. She had known from the moment her foot touched the stage that she would be leaving. She had never looked back and still to this day she would make the choice a thousand times over. " Famous? I didn't know I left such a shining legacy behind."
She smirked a little and glanced at his rigid posture. It must be exhausting to always be keyed up like that she thought to herself. She was pleasantly surprised when he laughed. It was something she never expected to come from a Dauntless member, except maybe when it was malicious but his didn't seem that way. She put one hand on her hip and smirked playfully. " Who said I wanted to know your real name? And don't forget....red....I grew up in Dauntless so if you call me sweetheart one more time I'll put you on the floor." She smiled sweetly at him.
Ok that probably wasn't true, but she liked to think her brother's training was still somewhere inside her. She liked to think if the moment was needed that she could at least do something to get her opponent on the mat. She was never good at hitting and other defense moves, but she had the offense moves down. She might not could fight her way out of something but she might could stall them and run which really was better than nothing.

Simon couldn't help but laugh at her responds. She said that she was born in dauntless and would have no problem putting him on the foor if he called her sweetheart one more time. He wanted to test that theory. "Well sweetheart. You havnt been there in what two years. You might be a little rusty. Plus your a lot smaller than i am. I would be afraid of breaking you."
She was smaller than him by like a bunch. In height she was a little shorter but in weight he had more muscle mass than she did so it would be easy to over power her without hurting her. Simon looked back at the transfers and smiled trying to find the dauntless ones. With them all wearing the amity colors it was hard to tell the difference.
Just look for a hair cut or tattoo or something, he told himself. He found a tattoo peaking out of one of the girls sleeve on her shoulder. He tried to think of her name but he couldn't place or. He turned his attention back to the blonde dauntless traitor on front of him. He needed to stop calling her that.
He was an amity traitor for crying out loud

When he called her sweetheart again to clearly just annoy her she gave him a slightly irritated look. She should have known better than to give a Dauntless information on what annoyed her, of course he was going to use it against her. She laughed when he said he would be afraid of breaking her. " Don't forget who my brother is Red, he taught me everything I know. And true, I've been gone for a while but trust me...I don't think I've forgotten much." She smiled sweetly and looked him over a little.
He was handsome, she had to give him that. He had tattoos of course, like most Dauntless members. She glanced at the group a moment and when her eyes met theirs they had looked away, clearly involved in watching the two of them. She couldn't blame them really. A past dauntless meeting a current dauntless, she was surprised they hadn't come to blows by now. He wasn't a very aggressive guy though, at least she didn't think so yet. Sure he had been typical Dauntless annoying, but not violent or aggressive like she was used to seeing from them. Still, she want the group to be watching their every move and listening to their every word, she wanted them to focus on something good and calming, like their play. She looked at Red " Well, since you're here anyway would you mind helping with some boxes that are going onto the truck to Dauntless?" She nodded her head towards the truck sitting outside. They weren't very large or heavy and there wasn't even all that many boxes. She figured it wouldn't have taken her too long to get them all on the truck by herself, but if he was here anyway maybe it could get done quicker and the task would take the two of them away from the prying ears and eye of the new transfers.

When she said she didn't think that she forgot much. He laughed at the word much. She looked to sweet to hurt a fly, to kind to hurt anything. And to weak to put him on the floor, then again what is they saying? Don't judge a book by its cover? Simon looked around and saw the initiates looking at them watching them. He didn't like being watched but he got used to it at initiation. She Asked him if he wanted to help with the boxes that were going to Dauntless and he sighed. If they knew he was here then he might get in trouble. Not from Amity but from his faction, because he is visiting his old faction and that's not okay in dauntless. He sighed but he wanted to help the pretty lady, and he didn't want to be in front of initiates.
He looked back at the blonde before speaking. "Sure Sweetheart. I'll help you." He told her and waited for her to lead the way. He learned a long time ago to let the women lead the way. He also learned that women are stronger than they looked. There is one girl, Jinx, She was from Candor and she looks small. She came full of bruises and scars. The first time he gave her a tattoo she asked for one on her thigh to hide some of the scars. She was stronger than she looked for sure.

She laughed sarcastically as he called her sweetheart again.." thanks...". She couldn't tell if he was doing it to annoy her or if that was just a word that he normally used when speaking to people. She knew a few Amity transfers who called everyone love or sugar, if she had to guess though she figured he was doing it to annoy her. She wasn't one to anger easily though, he could call her whatever he liked and it wouldn't elicit anger, she was use to people getting angry in therapy sessions and lashing out at her. She had been called all sorts of random names and it never bothered her. She was just irritated at him doing it just to clearly be irritating.
He had waited on her to walk out first and she had walked past him, making her way out of the cafeteria to the truck waiting outside. There was no one around it yet, most of the other Amity were busy finishing up their last bit of work or maybe hitting the showers. She could wait until some were done to get a little more help before beginning to load the truck, but she figured the two of them could make a good start before the others arrived. She walked out of the doors of the cafeteria and stepped outside into the heat of the day. The sun was bright and it was exceedingly warm. She stopped at the truck and looked over at him. " Alright it's just these boxes here...are you sure you don't mind?"
She grabbed one of the closest ones to her and began loading it onto the truck. She had done this a million times before with shipments going out. She wasn't sure about the exact number of trips that Amity made in a day, but she figured it was close to three or four. They were constantly getting in orders from factions requesting this and that. She looked over at him and spoke up again, trying to make small talk so it wouldn't be awkward with them loading the boxes in silence. " So if I remember correctly from my dauntless days.....the infamous Red was an Amity transfer.....is that why you're visiting?" She had a sneaky suspicion that his reason for checking on the transfers had more to do with it being his old faction than he was admitting. She was curious to say the least and she was grinning a little slyly while waiting for his reply.

Simon followed her through the amity compound and over to where he was going to help her. She asked him if he was sure that he didn't mind helping. He really hated when people questioned him. He looked at her took a box in his arms and passed it on to the next person. He helped all the way till it was finished. He didn't mind helping he just didn't want to be known as the Amity boy that he once was. He is dauntless now, or that was what his test said. What would have happened if he had stayed in Amity. Would he be factionless because he was to reckless during initiation. He didn't actually know what the initiates did during initiation but he had to guess it was almost like what Abnegation's was. Dauntless's initiation was the hardest out of all the factions, because most fail it.
When she spoke again he took a few steps away from her. She knew that he was from Amity just from when he was in initiation. He looked at her and glared. "Yes I am an Amity Traitor. That is why i am visiting. Saying hi to my family seeing how they are all doing. Why would you care?" He asked very coldly. He hated saying he was an amity traitor he hated it. Even though it was very true.

Adelaide didn't say anything as he ignored her question. In true Dauntless form he began working like a soldier. They had both gotten to work putting the boxes in the truck. It was a little odd working with a Dauntless guy on something that she was so used to doing with the Amity. Normally someone would tell songs or make jokes. They would laugh and make the work go a little more easier. Maybe it took them longer, but at least everyone was having fun while it was going on. With Red though he seemed to just focus solely on the task.
She was about to ask him if he wanted water or something when he had glared at her and spoke harshly. It was a bit unexpected to say the least. She hadn't meant anything hurtful in her asking. She could see in hindsight where maybe he might think she was bringing it up to make a point, but she hadn't been. " I wasn't thinking or referring to you as a traitor...I don't think like that. I left my old faction because it wasn't right for me, I would never criticize anyone else for doing the same." She paused a moment and leaned against the truck a little. " I think it's nice that you still care about them. Most people don't." She of course was referring to her family, but it was true. It was nice seeing someone, a Dauntless nevertheless caring about their old faction.
She couldn't count the number of times that faction before blood was drilled into her head, it was nice to see someone else not following that philosophy. It was nice seeing that she wasn't the only person missing a family member. If she could come up with an excuse to go see Vin she would do it in a second.
