The dauntless initiate's instructor leaned against the wall, watching the initiates take a shot at shooting the targets. She sighed. How pathetic. Some of the transfers acted like they'd never touched a gun before - that was probably true - but they chose dauntless, they had to be brave. Or they would never survive. They had to compete with the dauntless born, for goodness sake.

Bullets ricocheted off walls as the initiates missed the targets, and Stephanie simply stared blankly at them. Taking a quick glance at her watch, she realised it was already time for lunch, and she clapped her hands twice, successfully stopping all gunshots and the initiates put their guns back on the table. Alright. That's enough for today. Your performances are definitely not up to standard, and remember, you're competing not only among yourselves, but among the dauntless born too, whom I dare say have far more experience than you. She smirked, looking at a few of the terrified faces among them. Off you go. And so, the initiates left the shooting range, chatting happily among themselves.

She walked to the table, picking up a gun, enjoying the feeling of the gun fitting perfectly on the palm of her right hand. Her experienced fingers tapped the weapon curiously, and she raised the gun, aiming it at the heart of target that resembled a human body. Bang, went the gun, and a hole was formed at the heart of the target, and Stephanie smiled. It seemed she hadn't lost her touch after a few years.

The smell of Dauntless cake hit her, and she wondered if she was dreaming. The dining hall was pretty far away, so it was strange that she could smell the cake.
