BENNETT SOLOMON HENLEY —TWENTY ONE -- DAUNTLESS full name: Bennett Solomon Henley nicknames: Ben, Benny, Benny Rabbit (by his family), Robin (preferred) age: Twenty One faction birthplace: Amity current faction: Dauntless sexuality: Heterosexual occupation: Professional Fighter play by: Steven R. McQueen
personality:
Robin is a relatively calm, self-assured and good-humored individual that has a bit of a fun loving streak. He likes the thrill of the rush – the kind you can only get by doing something life threatening. He tends to dance to the beat of his own drum and takes life at his own pace – which in his case is rather fast. Robin likes to think he’s funny and tends to flirt with any girl he comes across, well as long as he knows they are at least eighteen. He drinks socially – though never enough to really get drunk and can be quite the socialite when he wants to be – even to the point of teasing others. To be honest, he acts more like a big kid than a grown adult sometimes but in serious situations, he transforms into a totally different person.
He can also be a little moody – but only if he has the reason to be. He took the death of his best friend pretty hard – they had joined Dauntless around the same time and had both passed initiation. He was exceedingly moody for the next few weeks and refused to talk with anyone – especially since they celebrated his friend’s death by throwing a party. That was something he didn’t quite agree with but he held his tongue. This rarely happens to him and he tries not to remain that way for too long. Robin can be quite intimidating, he’s a very tall person and even though he’s usually a big goofy smile – those that join him in conversation may not always be smiling.
Growing up in a primarily farming family, Robin severed all times with them in order to prove himself loyal to Dauntless. There’s not a day that goes by though that he doesn’t think about how they’re doing. Though he hopes to one day see his little sister and nephew again once it’s time for their choosing day. He can be fairly compassionate but years in Dauntless have definitely toughed him up. No longer is he the soft farm boy from Amity – he gradually became a man here. Though there is still a little of that farm boy in there – the shy, quiet individual he was upon initiation day, has long since disappeared from view.
In times of need, Robin is more dependable than most give him credit for. Though most of the time he pretty much goes with the flow – and has even been described as lazy, but when it’s time to get serious, another side of him comes into view. Robin’s protective side is a lot pricklier than most – he tends to be a lot more authoritarian when he takes on this role and can even go into lecture mode later if someone doesn’t heed his words. His explanations can be a little annoying and he can sometimes over exaggerate the consequences of the situation. Robin believes he’s doing everyone a service though – and can become quite full of it from time to time.
Robin is a notorious flirt – but he’s not a lady’s man by any means. He can talk the talk, but normally it’s just that – words. He’s very selective of the girls he likes and several dauntless girls just don’t make the cut. It’s not that he doesn’t think they are worth his time; he’s just looking for a spark. It may seem silly but that’s really what he’s looking for. He’s far from a hero though – he maybe brave, but everyone in Dauntless is brave, but sometimes he can make the wrong choice and pay royally for it. Despite appearing to be the perfectly charming gentleman, he’s not as perfect as he would like you think. In fact, outside of his job, he’s a very clumsy person – which would explain all the scabs and scratches all over his body.
mother: Eloisa Doreen Henley (nee’ Lewis) father: Wyatt Frederick Henley siblings: Josie Lou Vargas (nee’ Henley) – Amity, Charlie Ann Henley - Amity other: Julio Vargas (brother in law) - Amity, Dakota Vargas (nephew) – Amity history:
Robin was born in Amity under the name of Bennett Solomon Henley to two very devoted Amity-born people. His sister Josephine – or Josie rather, was born four years before him and spent most of her time bossing him around before he could even talk. Five years after his birth, Charlie was brought into the world, and has been chasing after him ever since, and he often called her his little shadow. As he began his schooling however – he soon began to resent his first name and tried to convince everyone to call him Ben. Unfortunately his family thought he was being cute and began calling him Benny and later Benny rabbit after he began taking care of an injured bunny when he was twelve years old.
His best friend was a boy named Vincent Sawyer – better known as Vinny and the two were inseparable growing up. They were always exploring the nearby forests and scurrying along in the fields playing different games when they weren’t working. Everyday was a new challenge and they aspired to be just as brave as the Dauntless kids in the school. The year before they turned sixteen – it became apparent that they were both pretty prepared to transfer. Robin handed manage to get over six feet and gained a lot muscle while working in the fields. Vinny was a lot stockier but was as thick as oak tree and was just as excited Robin was when they started becoming friends with quite a few of the Dauntless kids.
It didn’t come as a surprise that his aptitude results came back Dauntless the following year. He and Vinny immediately transferred on choosing day and didn’t look back. When he arrived in Dauntless, Bennett changed his name to Robin and has since gone by that. Both Robin and Vinny managed to stay above the red line – Robin himself was in the top five and rather proud of it. The final phase was a lot tougher, especially on Robin who nearly freaked out on his last fear. In all, Robin only had about seven or eight fears in all, and his final one had to do with Amity and his family. In the simulation, Amity had caught fire and he could hear his family’s screams all around him, but all he could see was smoke.
After snapping himself out of his stupor, he leaped over the fire and into his house to save them, just as he opened the door, the simulation ended and he was back in Dauntless. Later on he was pensive about he results – but thankfully both him and Vinny remained in Dauntless, they ranked 4th and 5th respectively. For the next year everything seemed to go smoothly until they returned to the City for that year’s choosing ceremony. It had been a routine jump from the train – or so he thought, Vinny had been messing around and was hanging near the end; he suddenly lost his hold on the train and ended up falling off.
They found his body later on; the others hadn’t even bothered to look for him until after the ceremony. Robin didn’t get to witness the ceremony that year; he was outside looking for Vinny instead. When they found him, he didn’t want to accept that his best friend was gone. He didn’t talk to anyone for over a month before gradually returning to society and to his old self. Things were never the same after Vinny died and sometimes he wonders if he made the right choice when he decided on Dauntless. Though to be honest, it may have just been the way the Dauntless treated funerals that really set him off – he didn’t celebrate when Vinny was laid to rest, so why did everyone else?
Ever since then, he became even more engrossed with his job, he became more social and lot lonelier. He didn’t let anyone get too close to him after that but at same time really wanted to find someone – someone special to hold him up. He soon realized that was selfish on his part – as relationships were a two way street, so instead of looking for a girl to make him happy again, he decided that he didn’t mind waiting for the one that he could make happy. He’s still quite the flirt and the tease, but he’s been keeping an eye out for that someone and if he finds her, he never wants to let her go.
