PAYTON GRISELDA McHALE -- 16 -- DAUNTLESS full name: Payton Griselda McHale nicknames: Pay age: 16 faction birthplace: Dauntless current faction: Dauntless sexuality: Straight occupation: Dauntless Initiate play by: Crystal Reed
personality:
Although she might seem small and relatively harmless, Payton McHale knows how to pack a punch - especially with her words. She is just as quick with her wit as she is with her hand-to-hand combat. The fiery brunette has a bit of a temper, however, and often lashes out when she doesn’t get her way. She is popular amongst the Dauntless-borns and has a certain distaste for the transfers, although she tends to keep it to herself. She’s a little distrustful of the new-comers, especially with the rumors that they might not have even tested remotely into Dauntless...Of course, ultimately the choice is their own, Pay believes that once a Dauntless, always a Dauntless...likewise, once another Faction, always another Faction.
Her weakness lies in her brother - the boy that she has always sought to protect. People think that she’s a bit of a prick, but Andrew knows it’s because she doesn’t want anyone to mess with him. She also has a bit of a vanity problem...
Her fears include burning alive, being strangled, having to kill her own brother, space, broken mirrors and glass, spiders, heights, and flying.
mother: Diedra McHale (nee Markus) father: Anthony McHale siblings: Andrew McHale other: none. history:
Payton was born Dauntless and has lived and breathed her faction since she was young. Her father was an initiate trainer before he retired to something a little more mundane in security. Her mother worked in The Pit. When she was two, her parents had another child, Andrew - her younger brother. He was softer than she was, always crying to their mother when he couldn’t do something. Payton has always protected him, fearing that there was something wrong with him...something wrong with her own blood. They were separated at the hip for the longest time, Pay believed in taking him under her wing so that he could learn to be stronger...less of a baby in her eyes.
Her father, being a previous initiate trainer has prepared her for what lies before her, making sure that she trains both her mind and her body in preparation. But she has no idea what exactly she is to expect. For years, she dreamed of her training and is even more excited to be starting on her way to become a full-fledged Dauntless.
Outside was so beautiful that afternoon. Atlanta lifted her chin so that her cheeks could feel the warmth of the sun that had been so absent during the winter. It felt good to get back out on the grounds - even if it was just to head to the pitch and pick up some of the notes that Jacen had left for the rest of the team. She bit down on her lip, running her hands through her hair as she walked. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. It was hard to believe that in a few days they would be starting up practice again and she would be back in the air - chasing the snitch until her heart was content.
Walking through the courtyards, she jumped one of the smaller boulders and landed gracefully on her feet. Yes, she had certainly missed this. She felt so free in the outdoors. It was then that her eyes landed on a familiar figure that, too, seemed to be out for a walk in the weather. Narcissa Black. Merlin.
Atlanta held her breath - she knew that if she really wanted to, she could just keep walking. There was really no need for them to talk...they hadn’t spoken in a few months anyway. Why should today be any different? She felt her feet moving in the opposite direction of Narcissa Black, leaving her behind in the wake of the life that she had once lived; a life that had been full of danger and treachery, alcohol and sleepless nights. She and Narcissa had run in the same pureblood circles for years, they were each others companions and confidants when they were younger; but over time, they had drifted apart and into new social circles. After last year, Hogwarts had become a place of rebirth for the youngest Vaisey sibling. It wasn’t something that she wanted to revisit - she had been made anew, given a second chance. She had new friends now...Mikael, too. Biting down on her lip, she managed to stop herself before she got too far away.
Just because she had been given a second chance didn’t mean that she should just throw other people to the dogs, did it? Dammit, She thought as she felt her feet carrying her back to the path that Black was on, obviously taking a walk. Lanta sped up her feet so that she could catch up and then immediately matched pace with the blonde, “Hey, Narcissa-” She breathed, coughing slightly just in case she had missed her rather pathetic entrance into her personal space. Lanta managed to force a smile onto her lips - this was going to be easier than she had anticipated, “Where’re you off to?” Maybe she was headed to another class and then they wouldn’t have to spend so much time together....then again, that would mean that Atlanta had some sort of good luck, and it didn’t look as if that was in the cards for her.
