Andy is what most people would call a late bloomer - and he's still not what people would have considered a Dauntless. He's actually quite the sweetheart - a rarity among his peers and can be quite passive when it comes to violence. He relies heavily on his family when it comes to facing life's problems and can be very sensitive, even to the point of crying, though you won't get him to admit that. However, he's annoyingly optimistic and loves to talk and meet new people. Though he does have quite the adventurous aspect to him, he's more likely to dream about than actually do it.
A very awkward and clumsy person, Andy has often tripped on air. He doesn't let that get him down though, and usually has a smile on his face. Andy can be very understanding and empathetic and will always be around if his sister Payton ever has the need to talk to someone. He trusts and loves his sister with his life and even though she is often in one of her 'moods', she's still his best friend. Andy doesn't generally judge people, whether they are a transfer or not and can be quite welcoming to new friends.
Andy can become easily frustrated if doesn't figure out things right away - and runs straight to his mother for her help. It's not a habit he's proud of and he can get quite embarrassed if anyone happens to mention it. Andy can be quite hopeful and appreciative and loves to receive help, and has begun to expect it. A very lighthearted and witty person, Andy tries to life as a day by day experience. He also likes to think that he's a charming flirt, but has yet to actually impress a girl.
A little absent minded, Andy has the tendency to zone out but usually doesn't notice that he does. There are some days however, that Andy feels like he has let his family down - for his actions make it obvious that he's not quite up to par with other Dauntless, despite being born into the faction. Andy was sometimes bullied as a child, and can become upset if he is made fun of. Andy is also quite intelligent but exceedingly naive and gullible.
Andy can be quite indecisive and often asks others to choose things for him - which usually leads to disastrous results. A very nervous person, he doesn't want to do something wrong and can be critical of himself if he fails at something. Andy is a grateful person however, especially towards his older sister Payton and tries his best to follow her orders. At the same time however, he can become distracted and mess up.

Andy was born two years after his older sister Payton in the faction of Dauntless. He was a very sensitive child and often babied growing up. He was always less aggressive than the other children his age and could be described as gentle. He blossomed in the social sphere, and was quite popular among his peers at school, though he was bullied as well due to his small size. A very persistent kid, he loved to ask questions growing up and became frustrated if he didn't understand things.
As his later years at the school started, Hale was soon taken under her his older sister's wing and was hopeful that he would become more of a Dauntless under her tutelage. Later on at his sister's choosing day, he was ecstatic that she hadn't left their faction and was sure she'd pass the initiation - she was, in his eyes, the perfect Dauntless and began looking up to her after that.
Some time had passed since then and he's trying his best to be more like the traits that embody a Dauntless. He knows that it would one day be his turn to make a choice and he doesn't want to let his family down. He wants to be worthy of the faction Dauntless - and has been even more focused on becoming the person he knows would make his family proud. Though he may not act like a Dauntless, he's hopeful that he can one day become one if tried hard enough.
