ANDREW DANTE GALLAGHER-- SIXTEEN -- DAUNTLESS full name: Andrew Dante Gallagher nicknames: Drew age: Sixteen faction birthplace: Erudite current faction: Dauntless sexuality: Straight occupation: Initiate play by: Diego Boneta
Intelligent · Quiet · Serious · Troubled · Indifferent · Mistrusting · Prideful · Obedient · Patient · Tough
Around strangers Drew keeps a mask of indifference clasped firmly on his face. He would prefer that his conversations with acquaintances be kept short and to the point. Not one for small talk, he would more than likely walk away if a exchange lasted longer than his attention-span allowed. However any information regarding his parents grants him endless patience. He's not generally an impatient person really, but he doesn't have time to sit around on his hands waiting on a lead. Drew doesn't like asking for help or even accepting it for that matter. He believes he can do everything himself and doesn't want someone else getting in his way.
Very protective over his younger twin sister, Drew can be a bit of a jerk towards those that try to befriend her. Despite his quiet nature, he can and will speak up in regards to his sister's well being. Zelda is the only one that he really speaks with at length, seeing as they're all each other has. He has developed into a rather silent and serious individual. He doesn't generally make jokes and most go over his head. That's not to say he's completely serious but the joke would have to be pretty obvious for him to understand. He can also be a little sarcastic, but only in situations that are not favorable to him. Drew can also become rather defiant and resilient when faced with adversity. He doesn't take threats lightly and he weighs his options every time he finds himself in trouble. Drew likes to have 'escape plans' laid out just in case certain situations go awry, since he's quite claustrophobic.
Though he doesn't have much of a temper, this is definitely one way to get under her skin. And that's if you pressure him with learning about his issues. A lot of them are deep rooted and psychological, dealing with the passing of his parents. He's a quick learner and is unafraid of experiencing new things as long as they are beneficial. Though not necessarily book smart, his streets smarts are what give him an advantage as well. He likes to think he has it all figured out, and he gets frustrated if there's something he doesn't know. Though he may not bring brute strength to the table, he can offer speed and accuracy. Though he's not adept at fighting yet, he's starting to get a handle on it.
The death of his parents changed him in such a way that he had to reform himself and did everything he could to keep him and his sister afloat when they were younger. Zelda is the one person he is closest to and if she serious, he believes her full heartedly. Though he can't say the same for other individuals, considering he's not close to anyone else, however, if he does warm up to a person, that obedience may soon follow. Drew covers cracks in his armor with emotionless facades. His tough exterior makes it so anything damaging just bounces off his mental shield. He doesn't like to admit that sometimes things seep through and he believes staying strong and firm with your beliefs is the only way to overcome what he fears most.
mother: Sophia Gallagher (nee Santiago) (deceased) father: Gavin Gallagher (deceased) siblings: Gavin Carlos Gallagher Jr - Erudite, Missy Leona Gallagher - Erudite and Griselda Esperanza Gallagher - Dauntless (twin) other: Forrest (uncle in law) and Olivia Lancer (aunt), Lou (brother in law)
Drew was born in the faction known as Erudite alongside his twin Zelda. His parents were very cold and distant, and as a youngster he developed those traits. In the beginning life was simple and both Zelda and Drew believed they were to become Erudite just like their parents and siblings before them. As they grew older, it became apparent that Zelda didn't hold the same traits as the rest of their family. As her twin, Drew helped keep her grades and tried to keep her focused. For his twin sister was far more open and kind compared to the others and was more focused on the social aspect rather than the academia.
Right around their ninth birthday, Gavin and Sophia didn't come home. The twins remained at their elder sister's house until they were told that their parents had been in a terrible accident and had sadly died. How and why was never explained to them, despite Drew's constant questioning. He couldn't do much then, as he was only a child. Drew and Zelda soon moved in with elder sister Missy and her husband Lou. The rest of their schooling went by without too much trouble and Drew managed to keep his twin sister focused enough to pass their classes.
On their sixteenth birthday, it was quite obvious it was their turn to choose a faction. They were expected to choose Erudite - as that was their home faction. However, Drew feared Zelda wouldn't make it past the tests required to become a full fledged Erudite and they had both agreed to join Amity. They both took their Aptitude tests and hurried on towards the choosing ceremony. Zelda went first, and for some reason she was very nervous, which was odd for her, she was normally rather confident and carefree. She cut her hand and was about to place it over the Amity bowl before suddenly moving it at the last second, into the Dauntless bowl.
Both Carlos and Missy gawked in surprise alongside Drew. Hadn't they agreed on Amity? What made her change her mind? Nevertheless, when it was Drew's turn to step forward, he found himself staring at the bowls in uncertainty. He was stuck - he wasn't sure if he couldn't cut it in Dauntless, let alone Zelda…but he couldn't just leave her there. So without a second thought, he placed his hand over Dauntless and thus sealing the fate of the Gallagher Twins. They soon were moved to the Dauntless Faction in order to be initiated.
The ride over to Dauntless was nerve wracking. Drew had never leaped from a moving train before, or a moving anything really. Were these people crazy? Zelda had done it with such ease though…as if she belonged here. He hadn't gone until the last minute and nearly fell flat on his face when he landed. He didn't feel quite so secure in Dauntless, this was the faction for the brave after all. Not that he wasn't brave, but he wasn't sure if he embodied any of the traits required a Dauntless initiate. He didn't particularly like the jump into the seemingly bottomless pit either. Zelda went in third, and he was the last, standing near the edge as he stared into it.
It was all or nothing now. He couldn't back out now, not with Zelda down there."I can do this." Letting out a breath, he took a step back before running forward to leap. He fell, but he didn't scream, he merely closed his eyes until he felt himself hit something soft. When he opened them, he found himself in a large room - in a net of all things. People dressed in black were all around him, they all seemed to erupt in shouts as he finally slid off and asked his name. He was about to tell them Andrew - for that was his given name.
However he preferred his nickname, and since he could change it now, he might as well. "Drew, you can call me Drew," he answered with a cocky grin before they all began chanting his name. After weaving through the crowd, he found his sister waiting for him and they were soon ushered into another room. The hallways were loud, and people ran about - definitely not something he was used to seeing. It was from the orderly marches of the Erudite, but somehow it felt freer. With a smile, he nodded towards Zelda as they continued forward, perhaps they had really found there home here. That's if they passed their initiation, and only time would tell if they would.
